I finally ask for help

I finally ask for help last week! I have been trying to quit drink for about a year now. I never really drank everyday but when I did drink it would be a case or more. The next day it would take another case to get over the first case . Day three of my drunk would be me in bed ,sick as dog and saying never again! I have drink way to much for years ,mostly on weekends and had a little trouble with the law. Last year I started thinking about quitting , how hard can it be. The hardest thing I've ever tried , that's how hard. I thought for years people where weak for getting help for drinking alcohol. I was wrong , it takes a strong person to ask for HELP. I will over come this and I hope that someday I can help someone.

Hi. When I realized my drinking was out of control it was the first time I got honest about MY drinking. I started making promises to myself that I will stop drinking and they all ended up drinking again and again. I then approached AA for help and was given an outline of what sober people did to stay sober. Asking anyone for help was not the way I functioned so I had difficulty with it and continued to suffer until my pain was enough to consider it. I began by asking someone who had some sober time and finally taking suggestions offered.
This was back before the internet and AA was the only game in town so immersing myself into not drinking AND working towards recovery I started to get better along with my life.
Anyone can do it if we want to and become disciplined to not pick up the first drink, no matter what.

BE WELL

I drank like you, but believe me it gets worse. It did for me anyway, so you're wise to stop now.
You'll find lots of support here. Best to you and your efforts.
