Coincidence?? .. And a tip from a newbie!!

So day 6 the best one so far!! Woke up early, amazing how easy it is now!!
Read some SR , walked a bit , had some homemade juice and vitamins .
Got the pedal bike out of storage, need to lose the 70 #s I gained in the last 8 years

Feeling good, hop into the truck off to work ... Good tunes on the stereo
Than it happens !!!!!!!

I look at myself in the rear view mirror and crack a huge smile
Day 6 and feeling great!!! Than 5 seconds later
(I hate to admit this ) crying my eyes out!!!! Like sobbing
I guess I figured since the detox stage was I'd say about a 6 out of ten for
Uncomfortable and painful !! I thought I was free and clear as they say.

So I guess it's time to clean out the emotional baggage I've been carrying for 20 years that made its ways back to the surface, since the alcohol no longer drowns it out of my head!!! This is going to be tough! As I sit on the side of the road trying to stop the tears.... I'm trying to figure out a course of action cause if I wait to long the weeds might take over the garden again!!

Ok so that's over with and I pull back out into traffic and I'm at a stop sign
And I'm not kidding you the truck in front of me has a license plate that starts with AA 3499!!! As I go back to the smile that started all this I'm reminded of a saying something like " coincidences are the universes way of telling you your on the right path" so I say thank you to what ever is out there!!
And realize maybe just maybe AA is what my next step is!!

Hello day 6 and thank you!!

The tip I talked about in the title. I've attached a photo to this post I don't really know how that works yet, but I put a cue card on my dash in front of the rpm dial!! It reads " turn over if you feel like drinking please"
And I added a little kicker on the top that says" you are in habit state stop and think about what you can do to make today better" or something close to that
So when I'm driving to the pub or the liquor store on cruise control,
It reminds me why I quit!! On the back it lists 4 reasons why
MY HEALTH
MY FINANCIAL SITUATION AND ALL THE MONEY IVE WASTED DRINKING
MY FAMILY
AND MOST IMPORTANT THE LOVE I NEED TO START HAVING FOR MYSELF

U can put what ever message on the back just make it strong or it might not turn the vehicle around !!

Thanks for your time!!

YIKES! I noticed your truck is in reverse, you should put it in Drive to move forward in sobriety ;-)

Great thread

Day 6! Awesome! I'm right behind you at day 4. Your courage will pull you through this. You are doing so well. Don't be ashamed to cry it out either. Your emotions need a flushing out along with the alcohol. Very proud of you!

Congratulations on 6days.

Early sobriety comes with a roller coaster of emotions.

I hope you get to an AA meeting and meet with others that understand you.

There are no strangers in AA,only friends you haven't met yet.

Wishing you well.

congrats and thanks Skotyb.

patman - you crack me up! I was thinking soon time to get gas myself. If it was in drive he'd drive straight into that wall.

Very inspiring post Skotyb. Keep it up.

So since today was going so good !! I decided to go to one of my old haunts after work like I would do 5-6 days a week ... Funny was there 7 days last week till i quit on Saturday the 3rd ... Some might say bad idea but the craving of seeing the people and staff I've known for years ... I know the alcohol ... But I walked in asked for a virgin caesar( should of seen the bartenders face, like I stole from him or something!! Lol)
Ordered some food are had a glass of milk and some snide remarks and joking around and I was out 14 dollar tab!! SUCCESS I won't try that often cause I don't want to temp fate!!

Normally my night would of been 2-3 pints Heineken
5-6 doubles , but since I work in the industry and know the Bartendar honestly they are like quads or even 5oz drinks either jack and cokes or Bombay and tonic
And to finish a couple shots of tequila .... Never food ... And then I'd buy myself smokes
And be there for hours!! 50-75$ Dollar tab plus gambling on keno for 100$
Then drive ( I know drive after all that, no excuses but I'm almost 280# and have seasoned my body for 18 some odd years) to the beer store and grab a 15 pack and a micky of what ever ... So now it's 7-8 o'clock at night I'd pound beers with my brother sip on the little bottle and smoke 20
Smokes in 2-3 hours go to bed wake up and repeat!!

So today was a mini success I THINK?!

The amount of money I should save and never mind that the amount of damage I've stopped doing to me body ..... Come on day 7
1 week tomorrow lets do this

Thanks for listening

Yes u did , I don't know how to post properly yet!! If I have a new experience do I just start a new thread or do I continue on a thread I start the same day!! I posted it on here than thought some people that might need to hear it might not go to an old thread from earlier today?! Maybe some advice?!

Thanx for your time
