I lost a lot of cell phones

.....when I was drinking. Today my cell phone volume stopped working and I went to the local Verizon cell phone store. It was a blast from the drinking past as I used to frequent that store a lot...especially on a Saturday morning as I often had to buy yet another phone. THIS time I happened to have one of those old phones in my junk drawer....(my phone had been found in a bar I was at so I didn't need to buy a new one after all!). It was so different going in there today as it was for normal business rather than due to my drinking. The cell phone rang an old call tone I used to use during my using days and it made my heart skip a few beats when I heard it. Needless to say, I quickly changed ring tones!

It's nice when change happens today and it isn't because of something that happened because of my destructive drinking/using days!

Weirdly enough, I never did lose my cell phone though I wished I had given the excruciatingly painful messages and calls I made in a drunken state Lost a lot of other things though. So glad that I managed to get my marbles back

That's a good share, Soberclover. I (surprisingly) only actually "lost" one cell phone due to drinking when it fell out of my shirt pocket into a thawing beer cooler and rather than putting it in a bowl of rice I went to the bar instead. Now, there were many times I "THOUGHT" my cell phone was lost when I was drunk, only to find it in like a pants pocket or under a pillow once I sobered up. I'm with you, so glad those days are gone. It's great to be sober and able to conduct normal business not having done anything wrong due to our drinking.

This makes me recall my own experience, which is not a war story for me, it's really shameful.

I actually lost a cell phone AT a liquor store, if you can believe it, which I showed up to after getting drunk at a bar the night before thanksgiving after working an evening shift.

The owner and his wife (and their kids! Makes me cringe remembering) were locking up and his family was waiting in the car. I started to leave but he told me to stay and he unlocked the store for my dumb self and sold me a couple of bottles of wine - I was afraid I wouldn't have a stash on the holiday. Even though I was drunk I could still see that showing up tipsy at the liquor store at 11 pm on Thanksgiving eve was embarrassing - and then I lost my phone in the store or in the dark outside.

Then I was somehow locked out of my house (??) and had to throw rocks at the window, trying to wake my husband but not my child, to get him to let me in. But I had my booze! I think I left it in the car to hide it from him so he wouldn't chastise me for hitting the liquor store so late.

I had to lie to my husband about where I was going and crawl (in terror and fear of my husband'a wrath) to the liquor store Thanksgiving morning and face the owner and his wife and kids again and try to find my phone because my husband was going to kill me if I lost it. It was never found and I had to confess to my husband that I lost the fancy phone. I spent all thanksgiving day drinking and miserable bc I was keeping this lost phone a secret. I told him the next day so that Thanksgiving didn't become a huge fight.

That episode was one of the nails in the coffin for my alcoholism. So I guess it's good it happened. Thanks for reminding me. I was approaching my bottom at this point.

Oh geez lol ..yet another reminder of things I've done and lost.

Lost mine in a taxi i took from the casino and shared with a total stranger .

He took it and kept ringing me all the time trying to get me to buy it back .. Weirdo !

I've lost good coats left on the back of chairs . So many sunglasses , 3 wallets with money in it .

Arghhhhh like Kaneda , i wished i had lost some of the many drunken messages I'd sent to people .

Reminds me of that website called texts from last night. I'm pretty certain a few of mine must've made it on! 🙈

Oldselfagain, sometimes when I'm at work and I need a good laugh I get on to the "Texts from last night" website! They are scary but so true!
