You CAN do it!!
At times, I was absolutely hopeless. I thought that I would die from drinking, that I never could stop. Then something changed in me and I took it seriously. I got some help, in the form of a great therapist and I am doing a world better. I have my bad days, but so does everybody ... that is called - Life! I really have no urge to drink anymore. I have been sober for 4 months now. I am exercising regularly and have made life changes to lead a more balanced and relaxed life.
As I write this message I am sitting in a hotel room with a mini fridge full of liquor that doesn't even call my name or arouse my attention whatsoever. I have surrendered to the fact that I can no longer drink. I am fine with that. In the past, I would have been in here hung over as hell and wondering how I am going to get through my presentation this afternoon. Instead I am feeling honored and blessed to be asked to speak at this conference. It is a large national conference and I know for a fact that I could not have done this four months ago. Yes, I did a lot of speaking in my drinking days, but I am going to rock this presentation this afternoon. My heart is in it, I'm genuinely excited and mindful of the wonderful experience.
If you think you can't do this, you can. This wasn't my first try getting sober, but hopefully it is my last.
