how long do folks hang out in newcomers site? whats the diff between this and alcoholic forum, or whatever? guidance from someone who has been around awile would be helpful.

There's no rules at all.
This is a good place to start in, but if you'd rather post in the Alcoholism forum, or both, that's totally fine.
The only difference I can think of is you might find other types of addictions and Friends and Family guys here.
