Poem ~Goodbye.
Poem ~Goodbye.
You were there, you kept me company.
You were there when I felt low.
You were there to ease the agony,
Numbed the pain from long ago.
You always seemed to lift me up.
Together we'd dance, all around.
But slowly you stole me from myself.
Til I was no where to be found.
The things that I would do for you,
Would put anyone to shame.
You turned my world upon it's head,
But I'm the one to blame.
So goodbye my friend, my enemy.
It is time that we must part.
You will always remain upon my mind,
But you'll no longer break my heart...
My way of saying goodbye to alcohol

Very nice poem! Alcohol really is like a loyal (sometimes), naughty little toxic friend, isn't it? I always knew what to expect of it, but instead of fulfillment, it left me depleted, isolated, sad, and alone. Still, I'd come crawling back to it, over and over again, like there was no alternative. It was familiar, comfortable. It's like the way some people behave in abusive relationships. They stay in them because they either don't believe there is a better way, or they don't believe they deserve it.
