Dont stop giving up drinking

Tomorrow a 38 Year Father and Husband, will keep his appointment at a Hospital somewhere in the UK, where he will have a Biopsy on his Thyroid Gland.

He was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism in Jan 2014 and this was caused in part from excessive alcohol abuse over 2 decades.

This mans lymphatic system has all but shut down and he is very ill, hence the reason for the lack of posts.

He is feeling a little scared about the procedure and has been told theres a 50/50 chance he will come out of this alive.

He worries about what will happen to his Wife and Son, how will they manage without him, what will become of them if he is no longer around.

He thought stopping drinking would be enough but the damage was set and he should have done it sooner.

He hopes he will survive this and promises not to touch another drop again, he just wants another chance, just one chance more to live.

His Son told him today, that he was the best Daddy in the whole world and that makes him strong not to give up.

He want to tell you, dont stop giving up drinking.

His name is Autan and it is easier to write in the third person.

Dont stop giving up drinking

I have missed coming on here too, I really have. This website has helped me in so many ways and succeeded in stopping me drinking again.

I drew strength from those like yourself, who had been through a lot and had come out the other side. I am not saying it was easy or even a bed of roses now, but I feel part of something here and I have missed not posting more often.

Thank you for your support.

Autan thank you for sharing. The message your son sent made me cry, but I am very thankful he sent his message. I am rooting for you and your second chance starting today. I hope everything goes smoothly tomorrow ((big hug)). Wishing you and your family well.

Autan, I had hyperthyroidism, some 30 years ago..... cancer is never fun, I went through the iodine radiation treatment..... would never do it again.... would just have the surgery instead! My specialist filled me with hope that they would get the right amount of radiation and everything would be back to normal. After 16 weeks of ridding my body of the radiation, my clothes washed separate, all my eating and drinking utensils washed separate, no kissing, no sex, no sneezing on others, etc, etc...... I find out that they gave me too much radiation and it completely killed my thyroid gland. Turns out it was a 50/50 chance of getting it right. So now, on synthroid for the rest of my life, twice yearly blood work to adjust if necessary.... The alternative, surgical removal of the thyroid, then on synthroid..... wish I would have researched it a bit better back then, but there was no internet or not much else to go on except his recommendation..... make sure you ask all the right questions so that you can make an informed decision..... best wishes, and good luck with whatever you decide....
