45 days - how in the world?!?!
45 days - how in the world?!?!
I have been on this forum for so long and remember the countless "45 days!" threads and thinking to myself, "How the heck does one go 45 days without alcohol???" It was hard for me to go just one day so I couldn't even fathom a month and a half.
Well, here's how: I had to swallow my pride, embarrassment, and shame and ask for outside help. This meant rehab, AA, medication, support network, and SR.
I still have ups and downs and drastic mood swings. I can be completely pissed one minute and on top of the world the next. It's an emotional roller coaster.
I've been drinking for 28 years and was a daily drinker. I'm now learning to have fun and be in social situations sober. It's not so bad.
I do still wish I could moderate, but I don't miss the blackouts, drunken altercations, hangovers, heartburn, memory loss, drunk driving (and car damage), trips to the store, bloat, passing out on the couch, crying, drama, chaos, etc.
I am just taking it one day at a time. That's the best I can do.
I'm posting this to give others hope that if i can make it 45 days, you can too! Don't be afraid to reach out for help.
