Revelation and fresh start

Every day I have said that today will be my fresh start and I won't drink. Every day though I have failed. I truly couldn't figure out what I was trying to "kill" with alcohol until last night. I knew something was in the back of my mind holding me back.

I have a family reunion in 2 weeks that I absolutely dread. Only because of one person who will be there. This person makes me extremely uncomfortable to be around.

I'm thankful for the mini melt down I had last night. (Cried all alone with no one to talk to...of course I had my pint to "soothe" me.) I now see one major emotional thing that I need to work through as I kick this.

I know if I can make it through day one, day two will be so much easier. I'm going to do it today and come back tonight posting how I made it through day one. I'm also going to constantly remind myself of how much happier I was and good I felt those 65+ days I was sober.

Welcome back Sinderos

Have you considered not going to this reunion at all?

Yes Dee. I am giving that serious thought. I don't have to make a final decision until mid next week.

Nice to see you posting again Sinderos! I hope that you can find the motivation to try to stop drinking again. Sobriety has brought me a level of peace that I couldn't find with anything when I was still drinking.
