Talking to myself

I have been talking myself out of restlessness most of today. While doing laundry, while cooking, while sitting at this laptop, I've been repeating aloud to my mind, "Please don't lie to yourself anymore! Please don't say it's ok to have a few drinks anymore! Please don't lie to yourself anymore! Please!"

Miraculously, it's been working all day. Now it's nighttime and I feel so relieved and encouraged and happy that I'm going to go to sleep another night sober and at peace.

I think there's something to speaking positive energy into existence.

Good for you SouthernBe11e! I used to do the same thing...talk to myself when that voice would start in. There were days it was relentless. Also like you , I was so relieved to go to sleep sober and at peace.

Big Hugs

Great Job 'Belle!

I don't know about you, but between my AV and my voice of reason, it is getting crowded in my head, Especially when they are arguing loudly!

Southernbe11e - I would sometimes stand in front of the bathroom mirror and say out loud to myself "you are going to do this" repeatedly. It helped. I did look like a crazy person, and it was awkward trying to explain it to my wife when she walked in on me one time. It wasn't half as crazy as active addiction though.

Way to go SB!! Remember, it's just one day at a time, and you're doing it!
