The witching hour
I with you pamperingMe. This is the time I usually open the wine. It's nice to know there's others out there who understand. I'm on day 7 and although it is so hard, I feel so good about my decision not to drink. Good luck to you. Keep up the great work!!!
CristinaN. Great job on 7 days. Keep up the good work too!
I do better with structure and I don't have much this evening. I went to a meeting at lunch.
I'm going to to try to relax after a long work week without the wine!!!

I am very familiar with the witching hour.....try to fill your day with structure and things to do.....a walk outdoors, a puzzle, cup of tea/coffe and a good movie....glad you came on here....

yep, know the feeling, I have almost nine months sober but tonight I'm alone and could drink in to oblivion if I wanted to. That's what I would have done on a normal Friday night if I was solo. This time I thought about it for roughly ten minutes and told my self I'm not going on the pity pot. I have things I need to do tomorrow and If I drink I would be in bed all Saturday and still won't feel right on Sunday. No more I say.

You did the right thing by coming here first. SR support has pulled me off the ledge on several occasions, especially one dismal afternoon when the witching hour hit like a hurricane. Suggestions like rove27's can be a life saver because sometimes the smallest distractions are enough to stop cravings. The good news is that after you power through the cravings for awhile, they fade surprisingly fast. Then for me it was on to the next phase where I no longer get cravings around a witching hour but instead I get these occasional nasty little "surprise attacks" that come out of nowhere.
Thanks everyone. I did a little housework. That usually makes me stressed on Saturday mornings so I got a jump start. I bought myself a couple of nice nonalcoholic beverages and and relaxing.
Making new routines!!!
Making new routines!!!
Way to go PamperingMe, and you too, CN - first week
You have to start reminding yourself that instead of 'this is the time I go for wine' that 'this is my time to relax and enjoy life.'
You cannot mourn your wine loss forever. It's soon time to move on. That wine will be fine without you.

Making new routines is so important! I'm glad that you didn't give in during the Witching Hour. I find that it does get easier with each time I've been successful in making it through the difficult times.
