Making day one different this time
Making day one different this time
If I managed my job the way I have tried to manage sobriety, I would have been fired by now. Using the same strategies and techniques after they repeatedly fail without learning anything is not a recipe for success.
"I'm just not going to drink" is not a sufficient strategy. Instead my plan is to try the following:
1. Check in everyday in the 24 hour club.
2. Bring my lunch to the office so I don't go out for lunch.
3. Have several friends I can talk to when I am having a hard time.
4. Go to the SR chat room when I am wanting to drink.
5. Improve my diet, exercise, and sleep routine.
I have yet to make it past day 3 in three months of trying. This is one area of my life in which I am a vert slow learner!

What other changes have you made? Are you staying away from social situations that revolve around alcohol? Bars? Parties? Have you looked at other methods of recovery?
A plan is wise. Being willing to add to the plan, to bolster it as needed, is even wiser. If you find SR insufficient, be open to face-to-face support.

Good to see you back JJ
That's the beginnings of a plan there but I think Carl's right - think about it a little more especially in your lifestyle choices, and don't be afraid to add to your plan as needed
