I must say one thing I wished someone had told me how serious alcohol withdrawal was before I found out for myself. I was drinking quite heavily for quite some time and found myself traveling half way around the world for work. Having a racing heart, difficulty breathing, and basically a mild panic attack while on a 20+ hour flight was not fun. It amazes me how little you hear about it if you dont go search for the answers first. I dont want to give medical advice but talking to your doctor is wise.

Another useful piece of advice. Take time to share your drinking problems with NA members/users you can learn just as much from someone who shares another problem. Ive met plenty of NA guys who prefer AA meetings for their own preference.
