2 weeks tomorrow :D
hey everyone. my name is kara and i am an alcoholic and addict just wanted to stop in and introduce myself.
Where i'm at: the past year has erased the little doubt i had about my drug and alcohol issues. effectively able to get past STEP 1, i am doing my best to take my program seriously. when i tried to start a program last year i knew i was a drug addict, but could not swallow the fact i was an alcoholic. i went through DTs for the first time at the start of this year after my dad passed. i had allowed myself to drink non stop while i was caring for him. i'm glad i have found acceptance, but the constant cravings for alcohol are pretty intense.
i look forward to utilizing the community here to strengthen my sobriety, and hope i can be of help to others as well!

Welcome kara! You found a great place where we all understand. You're never alone.
I'm very sorry you lost your dad. It's good that you were able to recognize what drinking was doing to you. Congratulations on your 2 weeks - well done!

thank u all. i am seeking all the support i can, this go round i go to at least one meeting a day. i am pleased to see that there is a fellowship of secular 12 step folks here! i live in a small town and feel like the odd one out sometimes, although everyone has been very welcoming and kind to me. when i lived in atlanta i went to a meeting for agnostics once. too bad they don't have those here!
