two baby steps forward and one backward

This is my first day as a member and am here to start recovery. I appreciate the genuine kindness and the collective hope that everyone recovers. I read one post by someone writing about her husband kicking the dog in a rage and how she worries about him and I realized how my drinking affects my family. So I have more reasons than me to recover. thank you.

It sounds stupid, but my dog is one of the things helping me. He comes up to me and lays his head on my lap and somehow knows I am going through a ruff time! I love my pup!!

Hi DoitYourself, glad you're here!

Tranklin, my dogs help me too. The unconditional love and trust you see in their eyes is very uplifting.

The references to how our dogs prop us up remind me of 2 sweet ideas:

a bumper sticker with a paw that reads: Who rescued who? and a prayer that reads Dear Lord, please help me be the person my dog thinks I am"
