Needing Support

Day four here and I'm in a trigger situation. Thursdays I take my daughter to ballet. I have to do it because my husband doesn't get out until after ballet is almost over. The issue is that "my" liquor store is literally next door (I didn't plan it that way, I swear). I usually (almost every week) go next door and get a small bottle of vodka (the kind with like 5 shots) and a tall boy for the night. I have an itching now and it's bad. I have 30 minutes to go. I really want to make it past day four. I usually get through the whole week to blow it on Thursday and then feel awful at work on Friday. Help!

Hi Amandaw

I have to sit out side the local liquor store to get a taxi. I'm a non drinker.

There's nothing in there that interests me.

You can get through the next 30 minutes and stay sober - You'll be glad and proud you did

D

I'm gonna make it. 5 minutes left. I've been trying to focus on my 4 year old dance and been reading here.

New here, but can relate...resist the temptation. Sounds easy, but we all know it is not. You CAN do it. Be safe.

Best, Saille

Imagine all of us standing there blocking the doorway holding Do Not Enter signs.

Amanda.
It wasn't long ago I was in the exact same boat. Dance class and all!!

You can do this!!! its been a month since I did that and ten days since no alcohol. It feels incredible. You will feel so empowered by your choice tomorrow.

Stay strong. Drop her off if you can and drive a little ways away and take a walk. Go get a cup of coffee. Find something else enjoyable close by.

I know you can do this!!

Godspeed

Amanda - By now you've made it! Be proud of yourself for not going next door. I can fully relate to the temptation. I had 3 liquor stores near all my locations for 'errands' so a quick vodka was simple. It's not easy, but will get easier. I can tell you that for sure. 120 days here since I drank my last...

Maybe that time your daughter is dancing you can come here and see what's going on! Post what's going on with you! Before you know it, it will be time to pick her up! NOBODY LIKES HANGOVERS! Especially at work! .....80 days today for me!

I did it! I came home not hiding anything from my husband, made dinner and am now in comfy clothes and ready to play a game with my family. Feeling great! Thanks everyone!

Edited for accidentally sending a duplicate post!

I love the idea of picturing all of the SR family standing by with signs...I'm definitely going to use that if necessary. This place is so fantastic. I always add something to my toolbox when I come here xo
