That Song..

Hi Gang,
I Was doing good, then that "say something I'm giving up on you" song comes on ok, ok, I'm breathing through it. I'm remembering the reek of the alcohol on my A exbf - ok, i had to post & I post how I speak. Ok, remember the sloppiness at the end of the night from him? Remember the slurred words from him? Remember never seeing him on Sunday because he was so hung over it or ill from drinking on Saturday night.? Ok, so instead of hearing the song and wanting up cry over lyrics - No, instead I want to shout, " say something & go get sober to him" ugh! Ok, I'm sorry- I had to vent. The song is a good one- please don't sue me. Ok? Thanks. Bernadette 777 peace.

Hi Bernadette! Killer tearjerker. Several of us have mentioned this song and how it haunts us.

Ha. That song comes on Pandora's Lullaby station. LULLABY!!!!
It's the most depressing thing EVER!!!

That said, I spent the end of my relationship sobbing to Adele in my car. Just pounding the steering wheel, sobbing.
It'll pass. For every sad song, I like to have an empowering, "I am awesome, I am strong, Look at me go go go" song ready to fire up there in your noggin. It's silly, but it helps me.

Bernadette...you are progressing! Stay calm and find some lyrics that remind you that you are a strong, capable woman!

It broke my heart when my husband told me he liked that song. The song is good and I hope he likes it for that reason. Of course most of me assumes that he related to it for the obvious reason. He is still here, I am sober (almost 10 months) and he is as supportive as ever, so I all is well, but it still shames me. If the words make you sad, definitely don't watch the video. Now that I have watched the video, I change the song on the radio. (The old couple was the end for me).

Christina Aguilera's song "Hurt" came out as my dad was dying of cancer...the first time I heard it was halfway through the 3 hour drive to his house. I had to pull over on the side of the road and sob like my heart was leaking out of my pores. It sucked SO BAD.

As for this song..."Say something..." I have learned to use it as a source of strength...because yes, the lyrics are eerily similar to the situation many of us are facing - but he/she keep begging for the other person to SAY SOMETHING - and as far as you know they don't. THEY DON'T! So I am justified to just keep going...because I did my absolute best and no attempt was made by the other person to even attempt to meet me half way. Not even a quarter of the way.

Perhaps that wasn't the intention of the song, but that's my take on it...which works for me (to keep me from ruining my mascara every time I hear it. LOL)

I have mixed feelings about the song. I can't put my finger on what is my issue with it, I guess it may be a coping mechanism (avoiding pain or painful things right now).

I first heard it here (I don't listen to much radio). Anyway, if I have to listen to it, I really like this version. They are an awesome group. Their Christmas songs are beautiful.

Now, if everyone is ready to lighten the mood up. Here is a wonderful, uplifting song

I meant to copy Katy Perry's "Roar" here earlier this morning. I fear I listened to that song WAY too much on my long runs this past fall. Over and over and over... Katy Perry is so slickly packaged it puts me off a bit. Though the hook in "Dark Horse" is totally catching and even my DS likes that song. He told me to watch the video and I was surprised to see the Eye of Horus in her hair. Cool. There is some serious imagery going on.

Love Pharrells' Happy. I actually have his first song from Despicable Me on some running song list. "I'm having a bad, bad day. It's about time that I get my way. Steamrolling whatever I see. Huh. Despicable me." It makes me laugh. I can be a bit of a steamroller when I get riled up into a codie trigger episode...

I just found the Happy song this past weekend. I've been playing it over and over again. It makes me...guess what? Happy!

I don't care how old I get, folky and/or country covers of rap songs will always be hilarious!
