Need some backup

Hi, All at Sober Recovery,

I want to quit drinking. I've been lurking on this site for a while. Could I ask you for a favor…could you send some encouraging thoughts my way? I will try to get to the end of this day.

Thanks very much

I'm praying for you!!! You can do it! Do you need medical attention or an AA meeting?

Thanks Elisabeth888! Fortunately, I do not need medical attention, so big WD issues to contend with. But I do need spiritual and/or motivational support. This community at SR seems to offer a good amount of that to those willing to receive it. Thank you so much for reaching out to me. With any luck, you can help me to help myself…help me to get out of my own way

I lurked around too before posting and before detox. I am 17 days sober today. Just reading the forums help me. I found once I went into recovery, the spiritual and moral support came to me very quickly. Good luck!

Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers Taproot. Well done on giving up. It isn't easy is it. But it does get easier. Try to remind yourself that the cravings pass - they don't keep getting worse. They build and then they diminish.

God bless you.

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome and the encouragement!

It is now beer-thirty local time on Friday…a challenge. So far so good. With any luck, I will make good on everyone's kind wishes and will sign off later tonight entirely sober. The good news is that this is only a matter of a few hours, and I happen to have a large amount of influence on the eventual outcome.
