brand newly clean; could use support!!

Hi all! Let me just get right to it. I've been addicted to pretty much any opiate I can get my hands on for just about 4 years. It started the same way I've read many times on these forums. I was in an accident, then prescribed them. My Dr didn't cut me off tho. I chose to stop getting them cuz of the fights it would cause my husband & me to get into. (Why yes I did kick myself in the ass for that many times lol) I know they always say there's some "underlying cause" as to why people continue drugs just to get high. As for that, I don't know. I feel like I just liked the extra energy and happy feeling. Which obviously didn't last long. I'd spend all my money on them & almost lost a few jobs. So I just decided "I will not let a small yellow pill (or any color) rule MY life. I was using anywhere from 7 to 15 norco 10s any given day. I didn't taper or anything. Just quit last Thursday. And I feel AMAZING!! Its like now that I actually made the choice to stick with it, I haven't even attempted. I'm expecting it to affect me pretty hard psychologically here soon. I have nobody to talk about this to and am doing it on my own. Advice? Encouragement? Similar stories? Anything!! Talk to me!!". Thanks for your time!

Wow...going cold turkey (I would think) is extra hard! I saw people detoxing off of benzos and it was horrible. I say keep up the good work and keep posting!

I just wanted to give you a quick update. Today is day 18!! Still going strong. Feeling better every day! I can't believe I finally made it longer than a day or 2. I'm working & doing normal things that normal people do without pills. ;-).

The first week was the worst. I feel like I went thru wds so many damn times before that I began to kinda brace myself since I knew what to expect. I gotta tell ya tho, I honestly can't believe how many days have passed and how great I feel. I started an exercise routine last week & my next goal is to quit smoking....wish me luck on that one! Lol
