Telling family and friends

I've only told my husband and best friend.
So ashamed that I'm petrified to tell anyone else but friends have noticed my withdrawal and are asking what's wrong...

Do you mean alcohol withdrawal symptoms or withdrawing from drinking events? You could start with, "I quit drinking for my health and it's too tempting to be around it" and make up your mind later on where you want to go with that.

Hi summerhaze, most people don't care, seriously. Lot's don't even notice. The health line is a good one and has the advantage of being true.

Withdrawal from social events. I have a tight group of friends that I talk to every day but have stopped communicating lately cause I haven't been feeling social.
