Tired of it
Still pretending I have some control over this disease. I can't go more than 6 days without getting hammered. Into my 4th year of relapse after 12 years sober. Sucks when you drink on days that u really don't want to but you end up doing it anyway. Stay reasonably healthy and fit most of the week then get smashed on the weekends and ruin all the work. Vicious cycle is back. Relapse is everything that's promised.
Welcome to the Forum!! . . . addiction can't be controlled, carving out a new Sober lifestyle is the way forward!!
The cycle though can be broken, many of us here are testament to that and you can do it too!!

Funny, I'm into my third month of recovery after spending twelve years in relapse.
I want to know how you stayed sober all those years myself. Maybe you can give me a few pointers. I lasted a year the first time. But I had it marked on the calender. Did my year to prove I could stop drinking. But I forgot how to stop after that year.

Attended AA for about 3 years, white knuckled the following 9 years was dry never did anything but work and go to bed at 8:30 every night commiting very little time to my wife and kids. Basically hiding in work and sleep
It's good to meet you Mattcher. I had 3 yrs. once - & back at it for 7. It was horrible - as you said, "everything that's promised" and then some. I hope it helps you to be here with us - you're never alone.
