Bewitching Hour!
Bewitching Hour!
It's day 3, almost time to go home home and I am thinking about wine for the first time all day. I believe this is indeed a craving, and my HALT strategy is:
Right now, drinking tons of water to be sure I am not just plain old thirsty.
Picking up a truly decadent pizza on the way home for an early dinner with my son since my DH has a late meeting. And leaving a little early. Now is not the time to diet!
I'm not tired at the moment, and I have planned a lazy night catching up with my DVR.
I'm not angry or tense (except for the craving), so no real need for the Ativan that I carry ICE.
What am I missing??

Having a good plan is the best - way to go!
My worst time was 6 - 8 pm, so right after supper. I started throwing the dishes in the dishwasher and going out asap for a long walk. I can't tell you how much it helped me. Changing daily patterns is always helpful!

From what you described, I can't see that anything is missing as far as physical things go. Perhaps you're just wanting to feel happier, more content.
Give yourself more sober time. Three days is still very early in recovery. Treat yourself well, as it sounds like you're doing. Give it more time.

Just remember what you wrote in your first post:
"I just want to be sober from now on."
That's your mantra. Your addiction will do everything in it's power to modify what you mean, for instance...sober until I feel better...sober until I get some time under my belt to prove I don't have a problem....sober, until I deserve to get drunk.
Remember, what you meant was, SOBER FOREVER.
I would like to introduce you to my good friend…………chocolate!
Although we have known each other for years we only recently became very fast friends. We hookup at least once a day, and I think of this dear friend often throughout the day. I imagine our newfound relationship will fizzle out as time wears on (or my jeans explode).
Seriously, it is amazing what a candy bar can do to alleviate cravings early on…bon appetit!
