Freedom beckons

Hiya folks,

After many years of heavy drinking and lots of failed attempts to stop I have finally given up alcohell. I had my last glass of wine ten minutes ago with my last cigarette. I have signed up to this forum to document my recovery and hopefully inspire others to do the same. Although I know it will have it's ups and downs I know for sure it is the right thing to do and that I will enjoy my life so much more being free from the addicts trap.

Wish me luck everyone!

Welcome. It's great when we recognize the pit we dug and stayed in until something moved us to look at the situation. We are successful when we don't pick up the first drink, it's that simple, not always easy though millions have done it.
I find your resolve admirable though, a lot at this time, to also stop smoking.

BE WELL

Thanks Feeling Great, during past attempts I have found cravings to be psycological, the more committed I have been the easier it is. It's not the decision that is hard it is the indecision. However I have also committed to losing weight on a alternate day juicing diet and bought exercise bike. I figure the sooner I start to feel good about myself the better. I have been giving up for probably eight years now so to have finally done it will just feel so good that I won't crave going back into that hell. Although I am not deluded I do know there will be triggers. It is exactly as IOAA2 says it is as simple as not picking up that one drink.

Well let's hope so anyway XX
