Im Geno and Im an alcoholic
Hi, I'm glad I found this forum. day 13 sober...... drank for 30 years last 10 years everyday 10-20+ drinks. I been to 3 meetings in the last 8 days after 3 days of in house detox without drug therapy ( what a big mistake). My work schedule is very large so at least I can turn to you all and my sober network I have in place of meetings when I cant make it. This is my 3rd time giving up the booze. This time I pray every minute every hour. Yesterday was ok till later in the day when I had another anxiety attack, so I called my friend of 10 years sober on the 15th, and worked through it. Anyways .. Today still having the gut wrenching muscle cramps in back and under ribs. Better now though after having to work (also on call). My company is very supportive, its a good thing to keep busy for sure.

Hi Geno, and welcome to SR!
You'll find a lot of support and good sobriety here. SR is great for when you can't get to a meeting, or just need a "dose" of recovery in between them!
Stick around, post a lot and enjoy the fellowship.

Hey Geno,
Welcome! I know where you are at... I drank the same way the last 15 years so I can relate. It gets easier the farther in you get down the road. As you know, early on there is some white knuckling and anxious times. Find hobbies or other things you enjoy that get get you through the rough spots. Best of luck and stay in touch!

Avoid caffine a lesson learned
Whatever you do try to avoid caffeine I think. I had some mountain dews yesterday and it triggered an anxiety attack for about 2 hours. Just a recent experience.

I should add, I am 70 lbs overweight. Although I eat breakfast, lunch , and dinner now I thought for sure my appitete would be greater than it is. did the booze really screw up my metabolism that bad...... GUESS SO .
Welcome Geno. You're doing great - 13 days is wonderful.
I drank 30 years too. It's wonderful to be free of it. We've put ourselves through hell, but we can heal and have a great life.

Welcome Geno! Congratulations on 13 days! Keep going. It's tough at first but it will get better. There are some great book suggestions on addiction on this site. They are really helpful. This site is a life saver. Hope you feel better.
