New to the community
Hello, my name is Richard. I'm new to the site. I am 24 years old, and am well aware of the problems that my addictions (more specifically to alcohol) are causing me in my life. I have never given the idea of getting clean or sober any serious consideration, but due to recent events (and some serious heavy drinking the last two years), I feel like I'm spiraling out of control. It's nice to find a community of people that are going through or have experienced similar situations. I hope by reading your experiences that it will help in turn to give me the courage to make healthier choices in my life. Take care, everyone.
Welcome to the family, from a Chicago-born Buckeye.
You'll certainly find a lot of support here for getting sober. With the help of this site (and my counselor) I've been sober for over four years. I hope we can help you stop drinking for good.

Welcome Richard, your right in that you'll find a lot of people here willing to share experiences and offer insight and advice.
I'm in a similar situation to you, 25 years old and been drinking heavy for a similar amount of time.

Welcome to a future that can be beyond your dreams. This forum and other organizations can be beneficial for our life. For me it was getting honest with myself about drinking and recognizing that if I didn't have a first drink I wouldn't have to get sober AGAIN. It's that simple! Didn't say easy.
