I had an after work nap today. None of the horrible sweaty nightmare loaded restless issues that I have at night. Only had a few hours last few nights. It was the best sleep in AGES.

Yes. If you your body needs sleep then do it. Being tired and exhausted can be a big trigger for some people. If your tired, fix it.

Chilled, if it makes you feel better - Arnold Schwarzenegger used to say that an hour sleep at daytime replenishes energy and makes you more productive overall through the rest of the day. So, go for it!

In the first few months i slept a whole lot . 12 or 14 hour nights quite often at the weekend , i guess my body needed to repair itself .
The deep and refreshing sleep was one of the gifts of sobriety although i still do have a night of no sleep every 10 days or so (useful for reading a good book) and it makes me appreciate the nights i do sleep well .

Bestwishes, m

I think it's acceptable to do anything that you need to do to take care of YOU. In fact, one of the perks that I really like about recovery is the realization that I have permission to take care of myself. If that means looking at the housework and grimacing and instead of doing it grabbing a book and a blanket and curling up then that's what I do. So be it.

Recovery is hard work and it's important to take care of you. If you feel like laying down and going to sleep then that's what you should do.

I love naps! Whether I'm tired of just bored, sleeping is a great way to pass the time.

For me, understanding the role of sleep didn't happen overnight (pun intended!): optimizing the combination of sleep, diet, and exercise took a lot of work but has been worth it. My sleep time has settled to a level that is higher than it was "in the day," but since my quality of life and productivity is much higher, I do not feel lazy for sleeping more.
