Made it a week :)

Well, I made it through seven days. Could i have done it without SR? of course!
WOULD I have? Thats really the question and i guess the answer is i dont know and i dont care. I have had tons of sober days, but outside of a doc appt. I was terrified of about 1.5 years ago, I cant remember another sober week in at least the last 5 years. Im very pragmatic and a fan of whatever works. Posting and reading here has been great. Signing up for the 24 hours every day helps me solidify my comittment and keep me present to it. Someday I would like my word to myself to be as meaningful as a post on a thread, but for now its a really helpful tool.
Some things I didnt miss this week:
Slowly looking through hands over my eyes at my credit card statement online on days after I went out.
Calling bars and taxi companies to inquire about left credit card, wallet, sunglasses etc.
Fearfully checking my phone in the morning to see what idiotic drunken texts or calls i had made
Feeling like crud in the morning at work
The internal conversation about whether or not im an alcoholic and need to stop
Feeling bad about things i had backed out of or missed because i drank instead including workouts
Etc.
Things i did miss:
The low level excitement (weekdays) during work on days i knew i was going to drink after work

I will take the trade!!!
Anyway, i really wanted to post to give my heartfelt gratitude not to SR but to all of the individual people who log in here to be honest about their struggles, to offer support, love and advice and especially encouragement (Im sure its the same thing, but to a Luddite like me its an important distinction)

Lastly, I had not heard of the "pink cloud" before reading about it on here today. How do i get that?? I will take it, even if its temporary

Yay for you getting through a week!

I didn't have the 'pink cloud' either, but in a way it was good because my recovery became a slow, but steady upward trend.

Well done, you are a star. Listing the pros and cons in black and white like that is scary but well worth it!

Speaking of black and white, I was playing around with the numbers today and came up with a conservative estimate of 36K spent on drinking in the last 5 years (including all my dui costs and taxi rides since the dui). That's not total nights out, just alcohol. Good thing I wouldn't be able to use that $ in my pocket right now
Lol, thanks again for the support and congrats, means the world!

Those three I can definitely relate to. I already checked my phone this morning to see if indeed I did call the ex-boyfriend last night. (I did, but he didn't answer, which is really a GOOD thing!).

I know the internal conversation far too well. I am an alcoholic Long, proud to know you! Congrats!
