Hi everyone, my name is ____ and I am a wineaholic. I've tried AA 3 times the last time I lasted 5 days. After the meeting I decided "I'm nothing like these people", went to Pier 1 bought a new wine rack and then to Trader Joe's and bought 9 bottles of wine. I drank them all and bought 2 more bottles all within a weeks time. I started drinking wine in my 20's - I really don't like anything else - my husbands beer can sit in the fridge for ever and I'm not even tempted. I can't just have one glass of wine, it always turns into at least 3 then the bottle. I am miserable, I can't loose the 15 pounds that I want to lose, I have no energy. If I had a desk job I would be long fired. I am tired of feeling like this. I need help to break the endless cycle.
Hello and welcome.
I couldn't stop at one either. I'm sorry AA didn't work for you. At least you're trying, so good job on that.
I really don't have much advice, except you have to get to the point where you don't want to drink more than you do.
Welcome to the site and I hope you find support and some answers here.

For me trying 3 AA meetings would have been a total waste of time because I was so undisciplined and wanted to drink more than I wanted to be sober. Finally at my end I got sick and tired of being sick and tired and surrendered to the fact I could not drink in safety. That was back before the internet and I'm still going to 3-5 meetings a week. As is said if it works don't fix it.
BE WELL
BE WELL
Hi shimcat, welcome to sr, you will find lots of help and support here.
My aim was not to drink, I couldn't think about the whole future ahead, so just a day at a time. It does get easier, I know.
SR has been a great help to me and there are other links I'm sure people will come on to inform you.

Welcome to SR.
I also dropped out of AA because I wasn't like those people.
20 years later I was a lot like those people.
I wish I had accepted my addiction sooner than I did.
There are many paths to a happy sober life. Some people use AA, some people find other ways. You gotta do whatever works for you. Just do it BEFORE you have the worst stories to tell at the AA meeting. Who needs that?
