You can ask a moderator to delete them for you. I think the reason why there isn't a delete option is so that when people reply to it there isn't any confusion.

The reasons are pretty well set out in the rules.

14. Members are responsible for their own actions, what they post and who they share their information with, here and outside of SR. They are reminded that anyone can read here, people don't have to join SR in order to read what is written. Only under rare circumstances will Administrators here edit what has been written as it is not fair to other members who have taken the time and thought to respond and for the smooth continuity of running these forums.
If you feel you have a valid reason for deletion you can use the contact us link for now to talk to admin

I'm an alcoholic - I believe I'm still responsible and accountable for whatever I might have done or said when I was drunk.

I wrote something on the wrong thread the other day so just backspaced and wrote deleted. But that was like in the space of a couple of minutes so it was possible. You can only edit the last post you have written I think, is that right?

You have a 15 minute window to edit yeah - but there's never an option to delete.
We won't be changing that
