18 days in....

And I'm not feeling it. Yes I like not having a hangover. Yes I like doing my whole face cleaning ritual before bed because I remember to do it. Yes I like remembering the end of the movie. Yes I'm glad I haven't had unexplained bruises and cuts when I wake up. Especially love my night time 15-20 minutes with my Lord before I fall asleep. So why do I just want to cry? This is ridiculous. Right now I have to pull my crap together enough to go get a haircut. And I don't feel like doing it. I haven't ate in two days except for shredded wheat, ice cream and pop corn. I'm not hungry. I'm not anything. Not hungry, tired, lonely, just blah. What the heck already? When will I feel like twerking again. Love ya bunches SR!!!

I was hoping that you would out-grow twerking as part of your recovery.

Hi Raider,

It took me a looooooooooong time to feel remotely human again. I hope you feel better sooner and I hope you don't give up because you are feeling so nothing. It really did get a lot better for me.....eventually.

Congratulations on 18 days!!!

Am so not hip....what's twerking?

Really identify Raider. I could barely rouse myself (good job I work from home) to do a single thing requiring energy & sleep pattern was so poor, so had to reserve it for the 'must-do's' Diet consisted of mind-mush TV and ready meals. I also cried all the time. Found Psalm 56:8 around Christmas time, which gave me permission to cry as often as I felt liked

You keep track of all my sorrows
You have collected all my tears in your bottle.
You have recorded each one in your book.

Two months on, diet is much better (including TV habits), sleep pattern getting there, still cry, but if the saying is true, laughing and crying offer the same release...although laughing is obviously more fun....and today for the first time, felt a tiny slice of peace

Love your posts Raider, and glad you're here

Hi Raider, All people, whether alcoholics or not, have good days and bad "blah" days. We know that when we are drinking, we have a TON of bad days! When we are sober, we often think that we should never have bad days or bad stretches. People who never touched alcohol or drugs in their lives have bad days. We just need to remember that drinking will NEVER make it better! Just ride it out, try to make yourself feel better with exercise, comedy, meditation, etc… It will soon pass!!

18 days in is Amazing! Congratulations!

A nice hard cut wrenching Cry is actually quite healthy.
Seriously, I highly recommend it.

Feels like an emotional bowel movement, if you ask me.

Raider, your post made me smile, but sorry you are not feeling well..."anything". I am 18 or 19 days too... I dont know your personal situation, but maybe you need something to stimulate you. Or just something to look forward to? Do you go to support groups? Have friends in recovery?

Raider, remember those depressed days a few weeks ago. A blah day sounds like an upgrade! Keep on moving forward and you will be at 30 days in no time. Brighter days are ahead of you. The dark days are behind you.

raider-what you are feeling is very normal. it has taken years for us to get to this state and does take several weeks even months for our brains, bodies and emotional stability to recalibrate. keep up the great work

Congrats on 18 days, Raider! Awesome accomplishment.

Just popping over from the F&F and saw your post... I know that you offer us your support and want you to know that we think of and pray for you too (I think many others on the F&F would agree ). We all do this in baby steps, right? Just keep doing the next right thing for you.

As for the twerking...fake it 'til you make it??

Raider you know that not eating properly thing? That's one of AV's subtle ways of enticing us to the bottle, the tireder and hungrier (for nutrition) we are the more AV gets a hold. I know this because I am in recovery too.
