day 4 and feeling better.

In a previous post I said I would stop counting days. Well this early in recovery it's super easy to know exactly how many days it's been. Day 4 for me (since I started making efforts to be sober) has been my hangup. The physical withdrawls are dissipating and I feel pretty good..... Here is where my AV says, "hey it's ok to drink and smoke pot one more time. Just for today. You've been so good." That one more time turned into a 15 day binge last time. Literally less than an hour sober each day. Wake up, buy booze, get high binge eat and passout. Repeat. Yuck.
Well not this time. This time will be different. I don't know how to explain it, but I feel better this time. I like being sober. I like waking up remembering what I did before I passed out. I like the energy I have. I like not being hungover. I like having productive plans for the day. I like myself this way. When I drink I hate myself, I cry, I feel hopeless. Today I feel hopeful and want more of it.

That's all. Thanks.

great going. Just keep remembering how you feel when you use and the day after. That helps keep me sober.
Best to you.

Keep going! You can do it! I read a thread on one of the other forums here about counting vs not counting and I think that counting in the beginning, at least for me, is a good thing. It's great waking up and not feeling like crap.

I'm proud of you!

Hope u come back to the 24 club. Maybe counting days is good. Makes you think twice b4 giving up your date of sobriety.

I'm counting - for now anyway. I quit on March 8th which is why I stuck an eight after Shoshie. Feel that if I don't count, I'll get complacent. And I think milestones are going to be important to me as part of my recovery - I love reading milestone posts on here, they're really motivating for me.
