First sober birthday in ages
Wow, big day today I am 7 months sober and I am 28 years old today. My first sober birthday! Easier than I thought and did not even think about a drink today. Still in AA.
I my weekend binge drinking days I would be drinking stella at home on a Sunday morning, go to the pub across the road all day, drink with a bunch of old men and stagger back home. Then nurse a bad hangover at work Monday morning.
Tonight I have just been to see my parents and my brother was there and I have got their respect back. We had a Indian take away and even though I asked for a mild mine was really hot and my breath was on fire! My mum advised me to have a glass of mild to cool my mouth which worked wonders. (Old wives tale). In the past it would be a pint of lager to cool my mouth.
I would never have thought a year ago I would have a pint of milk for my birthday!

Sounds awesome man! I turned 27 back in October and managed to stay sober for my birthday but found it really tough, kind of isolated at the moment and wanted some sort of celebration, also felt like no one really cared I stayed sober for my birthday, wish I had this site back then!
Happy Birthday mate, and a massive WELL DONE!
(Hope the curry was nice, haha)

Cheers guys, in sobriety i just appreciate the simple things in life: peace of mind, getting on with others, knowing what i have done better and just more at ease. There is more work to do but i keep reminding myself to keep things simple, do not get complacent and just enjoy life
