was saving a bottle of Dom for special occasion
bought this bottle of 1992 Dom Perignon while living in France ... was always waiting for the right special occassion ... almost drank it last year ... i guess now i should probably just give it away to someone that will enjoy it responsibly?

I gave away my last bottle of wine. Then I gave away all my microbrew shirts and sweats. Then I got all my wine, whiskey, and pint glasses out of site. And my collection of old favorite empty bottles - recycling.
I just had to do the dump with a bottle of Cakebread Chardonnay.
It was both terrifying and liberating at the same time as I poured that sucker down the drain.
My mother almost tackled me when she caught me doing it. I explained it's not an option to have it around anymore.
Truth be told, I always thought it was vastly overrated. . Even when I was pretending not to slam glasses of it.

20 year old champagne? Dump it, or give it to someone with low expectations. While it could be okay whites aren't made to be put up but drank young. Most of them don't have the structure/tannins required to develop with age. Most whites will decline after 5-10 years.
I feel for you, though! I always wanted to get a bottle of Chateau Margaux 1969 (the year of my birth)- it would be hundreds of dollars but a great "special occasion" wine. Of course, a wine like that would be it's own occasion! I get a little twinge knowing I'll never again drink fine wine but I may as well lament my inability to fly. What's done is done.

PS Just read yours Least - great minds huh
Sell it on craigslist .
Actually, I'd either give it away as a gift, quickly, or flush it down the toilet as a reminder of what it's now worth to do.
Definitely would not want that bottle around the house wispering to me.
