Replacing One Addiction for Another Healthy (hopefully) One

Some in the recovery world have told me that perhaps I have an addictive personality and that turning this trait towards a healthy addiction could be awesome. I'm wrestling between new addictions: exercise (still feel too weak and drained after 3 weeks sober); cigars (occasionally puff for a light buzz, now more often to "fill the gap", which I know is not solving but deflecting my issues, and sex (I'm monogamous, so that's somewhat limited).

Any other ideas?

James Kirk

Ps. I find people on here quite intelligent and thoughtful.

Do you have any favorite hobbies? Now might be the perfect time to start working on some of them. I traded my alcohol addiction for an addiction to my dogs. I vowed to be the best dog-mom I can be. I put my energy into the care of my dogs and their good health and happy disposition is my reward.

Thanks. I never had a dog. I would like, but my wife, given my work schedule, would do much of the care. She's not going to walk the dog and pick up poop on Manhattan streets!
