Gratitude
Hi,
I found this forum recently and have read it daily. I can't articulate how pivotal it has been in keeping me sane, reinforcing that I have made the right decision. It's scary how much I can relate to the experiences shared, especially considering the reality of being an alcoholic only entered my psyche recently. I thought it didn't affect people like me, 26 years old, good job etc. My blissful ignorance is no more.
I haven't had a drink in 12 days. I had went 4 months before in 2011 when I was on medication, however I have came to the realisation that I had never stopped - I planned meticulously my next drink(s). When I could drink again I caught up in lost time!
I made the decision that I had to stop almost a couple of weeks ago. I could no longer justify my drinking to myself. However, the reality of never drinking again has hit me hard. I have obsessed about my obsession with alcohol daily ever since. This forum has been a huge help in educating me on the trials and tribulations of similarly minded people. Thank you.
