Thank you so much! I just posted the one on Hoffman to my FB in response to judgmental posts I keep seeing.
I also just read on Huffington Post US that his dealers may have been located. If only police took this much effort to find the dealers connected to all of the overdoses of loved ones...

The police arrested two people in relation to my husband going missing/drug binge. It made me feel a little better but unless they can get them ALL there is someone else waiting to fill the gap.

Thank you for posting this article. I think some people forget that addicts are human too. It hurts me to see and hear how people who are not affected by addiction treat people like my AS. There is a huge stigma everywhere, even in hospitals! My son did not want to go to the doctor to be treated for a cold, infections, etc. because he felt judged. I finally convinced him to see our family doctor because I didn't want him to put his life in jeopardy by not being treated over embarrassment. I had talk with him and told him that I didn't care what other people think and that he is entitled to receive medical care like everyone else with dignity. So far, he's been going to our new family doctor and so far so good. I even spoke to my doctor and explained that he did not want to see a doctor for fear of being looked down on. She assured me that that would not happen and they are there to give help him better his health. Sometimes, we are the ones that need to advocate for them because they can't (mentally - the guilt is always there) do it for themselves.

Thank you for sharing. Russell Brands article was very helpful. Living with an addict whether in recovery or not, it is important to identify the ever present siren call. We can never be "normal". They can never be "normal". BUT we can choose to be happy.
