Detox Fears

I know this question has been asked before, so please bear with me. If you don't have any scary physical detox symptoms in the first few days, how likely is it that you will experience symptoms after the first few days?

Hi Fresh,

Honestly it is so hard to say. Everyone is different. I had the shakes for weeks and weeks when I quit. However I only threw up for one day.

One thing is to make sure you see a doctor as detoxing can be quite dangerous doing it on your own. I never knew this and looking back I am lucky nothing bad happened. So I encourage you to go see someone about this.

Daily, for 5 years, mostly wine. Made it to 72 hours twice in the last 2 months with hardly any physical withdrawal symptoms. Have no idea what hour 73 looks like...yet. But it would be very reassuring to know that hour 73 won't be worse than hour 1...

None of us are Doctors I'm afraid Fresh.
None of us know your state of general health or clinical history.

Generally the first 72 hours are the danger zone, but I've seen stories with complications later than that, so I really can't state that with any authority.

As a daily drinker for 5 years the smart move would be to get checked out.
If you feel concerned at all, please see your Dr.

In my experience, if I didn't have any symptoms within the first day or two.....I didn't get any at all. You may be lucky this time around. But...please do not push it. Drink lots of water....get some rest and don't drink !!!

When I first started trying to quit I didn't get any symptoms. Each one gets worse though for a lot of people. (myself included)

It's definitely worth talking to a doctor about. Withdrawal is miserable. Nothing I want to do again...
