The best advice I have is to try to associate alcohol/drugs with negative feelings. That seemed to be the only thing that really helped me quitting the drugs I've quit so far. Take some time each day and concentrate on all the horrible consequences and feelings that alcohol caused. Or smell something really smelly and disgusting whenever you think about drinking. They do that with pedophiles and other obsessive disorders. I'm convinced that's the key to stopping addiction, associating it with very negative feelings.

Glad you are back. Hope Colorado was a nice vacation. Most important is that you hopped in that wagon and came back. Many don't make the trip back once they fall of the wagon, at least not as immediate as you did. It seems that the gang at SR is glad you are back. I can make it through a rough day just knowing that.
being new to SR, I'm not always sure what I can and cannot post. Ie., in AA you can't be an active alcoholic and attend meetings. I respect and understand the reasoning behind that. however, when you attend meetings with recovery graduates who tell the same rock bottom story again and again ...
Was somewhat same being a little shy @ mtgs in the beginning. But then I realised we are all a bunch of sick drunks working at a common solution to stay sober one day @ a time. Won't say it's impossible to stay sober on you're own but it's VERY difficult. I love SR however I need to correspond w/ others too. Make some friends w/ few ladies @ mtgs & go from there. No need to say a word if you don't feel like it. As time goes, you'll flower out as a petal. Sobriety is too important to put down & walk away from

“The only requirement for A.A. membership is a desire to stop drinking.”
In any case, there wouldn't be much point us not allowing active drinkers here
The 'rules' here are simple - if you want or need help - just ask.

I think sometimes group settings only work for certain people. I always just looked around the room and thought I had nothing in common with those people. Neither the drinkers, nor the recovered.
In the end, I just keep myself darn busy
