Memory issues anyone
My short term memory was completely shot when I was drinking all the time. I honestly thought it was the beginning stages of Alzheimer's. The good thing is, when you stop drinking your memory comes back. At least I think it does anyway, I forget
It honestly does get better. I was very bad.. very forgetful. It causes you to be unsure of yourself, always thinking did I turn the stove off, etc, etc... it had a pretty solid negative impact on my work too.
there are entire stages of my life I really have nothing but fragments of.
when it comes to simple, every day memory things like "where did I put that _____________" - atrocious.
Remembering people's names? Forget it.
Yeah... awful. I am hoping that improves in sobriety.

I am the queen of sticky notes too I stopped trying to figure out if it was damage from the alcohol/drugs, damage from a head injury, or getting older....I just try new tricks to remind myself of things.
This is a massive concern for me. It is good to hear that it will improve.
I can get to the end of the day and have no idea what I did in the morning.
I feel like I am quite productive but the memory thing is a concern.
I did an online memory test and did OK.
Perhaps it is a mixture of vagueness and memory.

Seriously though, the topic of memory issues regarding alcoholism is a crucial one. It might be harmless or if you've really been drinking, it might lead to Wernicke-Korsakoff's disease.
I'm not a doctor, but I suppose that there are stages in between. Alcohol does do damage to your brain. If you quit, a lot of things get restored. But some damage may be permanent. That's why you need to see a doctor if the symptoms are still there after a while. In fact, I'd see my doctor right now if I had that concern, just to be sure.
Be well!
