I'm Happy?

I was walking in the mall today, looking at some beautiful palm trees against the blue sky and this man walked up to me as he passed and exclaimed, "Well, you're just so happy, aren't you!". Okay, ignoring that he was probably hitting on me, I'm sure I looked happy because when he said that I FELT happy. Really happy. Just BEING. And that surprises me because I spend a lot of my time being kind of depressed without the alcohol as a crutch/ paws. But if that bit of happiness can burst through today, it can happen again. And again. And I'm pretty sure when I was out and about drinking no one EVER told me that I looked happy.

Hi Hearts, congratulations on your sober time.

Fantastic to feel the 'precious present' the now, not wondering when our next drink will be.

Sobriety does have it's rewards. x

So what if he was trying to hit on you! That doesn't make it untrue. It's funny how happiness can sneak up on us sometimes.

Great post! And like the other poster said, it's funny how happiness can creep up on us sometimes when we're not using the destructive force known as alcohol.

Getting hit on is nice though, isn't it? It was even a good way to engage you, since he did pay attention to you and notice how you felt. Those are the good ones.

That bit of happiness is your natural state bursting through. Embrace it!
