No detox

Sober for 31 days. I expected to have detox symptoms as I have become intoxicated nearly every night for 5 years. I feel lucky but also I always thought detox was going to be a big accomplishment that I would have to go through..

Congratulations on 31 days! You should feel really good about the work you have done! Do you have a plan for the next 31 days?

I can stay sober. Just wondering about the no detox question. Best way to describe it is feeling cheated. It seemed like not drinking would feel worse at first and better than it does now health wise..

I had zero symptoms too. And no cravings after. And I drank heavily for about half the time as you. Maybe missed a few days over years.

I detoxed lots of tines - sometimes I had no symptoms, other times not -my last detox nearly killed me.

Don't feel cheated - you got a lucky break.

Getting sober after 5 years of nightly drinking is a great achievement in itself

Not everyone gets PAWs - if you feel fine, then you don't have it

A night like tonight when a basketball game is on, wife is working, and I have a late start at work would have been a minimum of 12 beers (wife gets home it looks like I drank six)

I sensed in your initial post that you felt cheated by no symptoms. I'm kind of shaking my head in bewilderment about that but do in a way understand. I guess I would say consider yourself fortunate, blessed, lucky, whatever you wish to call it. And congrats on 31 days.

Yeah Scott good call. I really expected some and it has been quite easy so far. Last time I drank I had quite the hangover which I know is withdrawals but I expected more.

Same, no withdrawals, but quite ready to be done.

I had terrible withdrawals. I went to ER with a hypertensive emergency. Not something I want to continue doing.
