Cool I See An Epidemic

I think I heard an alarm go off
There's an epidemic going on in here, and a bad case of it, it's called,

I CAN'T

Time to rewire your thinking.

I used to have the I can't virus, I chose to THINK that way.

One question?

Are those two little words, "I CAN'T," working for you?

Guessing they aren't...time to change your thinking, and do what ever it takes to FREE yourself.

You deserve that freedom, I speak of.

YOU CAN, and YOU WILL

If I CAN
YOU CAN
WE CAN

Attitude is SO important in most any healing situation. I see threads titled..."Well, Here Goes Nothing" or something similar and I just shake my head. I KNOW it's hard because I've been through it, but when I made the decision to stop drinking, I knew I had to throw myself into it heart and soul, so that's what I did.

I'm no one special and if I can do it, anyone can, but attitude is one of the most important ingredients in recovery, IMHO.

Something else to think about.

Let's give your sobriety a name. You're new to it, so it's like a baby, right?

"Baby Sobriety!" <--- that looks perfect to me

Now think about this, you're taking care of a baby. It's your job to nurture and help this new baby grow.

Would you continually tell it, that it CAN'T.

Just to name a few:

You CAN'T crawl
You CAN'T walk
You CAN'T think

Imagine that state that baby would be in, if that baby was told day in and day out, that it CAN'T. Sad thought isn't it?

Today's a good day to start nurturing your BABY SOBRIETY, every way you can. There's so many options. You've been blessed beyond words having found SR. Something has guided you here, to focus, absorb everything you can.

You're going to be alright. Roll up those sleeves, we've got some work to do.

after I got into recovery, I got into scrollsaw fretwork. some pretty intricate stuff, too. I made a made this serenity prayer for a friend:
Floral Serenity Prayer Plan

when I gave it to her, she was amazed and said,"i could never do that!"
"with that attitude, theres not much you can do," was all I could say.
she changed her thinkin, got a scollsaw, and now does it as a hobby.

we've both made some pretty intricate kindling along the way, but haven't let that stop us.

There was a thread about this a while back and my take away was;;;

Change "I can't" to "I don't"

A very small shift but it changes the entire premise, it gives us back ownership of our choices, and I think that is something that gets lost when we are drinking.

I used to wait for some huge vision to appear to initiate change. Now I have realized that the ONLY way change occurs is through action. Small steps, small choices, they add up quickly. Those with long sobriety have been making those small choices for a lot longer, but they are not doing anything that is out of your grasp.

Can you imagine if all the great artists who've existed and exist today, had of chose those two words, "I CAN'T," what a dull world we'd live in.

No music, no art for our eyes to enjoy....I could go on, but you get where I'm going with this

A little bump to remind everyone, to get rid of those two words.

"I CAN'T"

Cause guess what??

YOU CAN
YOU WILL
WE CAN

We set ourselves up, putting that little thought into our heads. Time to rewire our thinking.

A little something to think about, a visual.

You're laying in the hospital, because you kept telling yourself, "I CAN'T!" Scary stuff! Why wait till that happens!

A good mantra, to repeat as many times a day as needed.

"I CAN, I CAN, I CAN, and I WILL."

Have a great day!

Very Good. I like this analogy.

My eyes open WIDER, seeing the repeated, I CAN'TS

Blinks

YOU CAN.......and YOU WILL

When you get the urge to drink, remind yourself, it's just a thought, tell it to take a hike.

You're welcome. It really works when we change our thinking.

It's just a thought we put in our heads.....I CAN'T <--- see that, just a thought.

Silvy! That's good, because I stole all of the I CAN'TS lol
