I couple of years ago I tried online meetings through the AA site. As soon as people jumped down my throat about my Atheism I was outta there... and back to drinking soon after that. This forum, however, has been great. People are incredibly supportive here and there always seems to be someone around. It's great when you need support NOW.

I tried AA online a couple years ago, was hanging on it for a whole weekend. Did not find it helpful for me but perhaps it was just those 2 days, not sure. Never did any AA meetings in the 3D world so I'm not experienced with the program personally beyond theory.
I also find SR one of the best sobriety aids I've used, in particular because its highly interactive, relatively unstructured and unbiased, very honest nature, where many different types of sobriety approaches are welcome and discussed.
Erikb4 - I suggest that you give AA online a try and see how it works for you. Good luck!

I tried an online AA meeting. I must be slow or something because I had a very hard time following what was going on. I think I would have gotten used to it if I kept trying but I was just frustrated. I do find this site very helpful though.
If you are interested a local group here records their speaker meetings and post them online. Over 100 of them. So it's kinda like going to an online meeting.

I looked at the online meetings a while back and everyone was jumping on me about my lack of religious conviction. It's not for me but doesn't mean it's not good for others. It is absolutely huge, so must be helping many.
