Back again, going to succeed this time.

Hi all. I had 4 months sober in 2010. Made a few brief and unsuccessful attempts since. Trying again. On day 15. 2nd sober weekend (was a weekend binger). I feel this time is different, and that my past failed attempts FINALLY got my brain to accept that I cannot control my drinking. Unlike previous times, I am no longer feeling jealous of those who are drinking. I don't feel like I'm missing out. I feel wonderful, in control and grateful that something finally clicked for me.

Keep at it! I think you're right about it finally clicking. For me, I just got sick of feeling sick.

Congratulations on making the decision to quit. You can do it.

Welcome again SillyString.

I had to reach that point too. Admitting we can't touch it is so hard. Once we're convinced it's impossible to control it - we can finally stop fighting & reach out for our new sober life. You sound determined. Glad to have you back.

welcome back. things changed for me when I decided to accept sobriety unconditionally and with thanks.

Keeping the thanks going helps in the journey- see gratitude threads- now I am sober I see how common it is to focus on the negatives
