What i don't miss...

I don't miss checking my phone, if i had called my "then" boyfriend, four minutes meant I had gone into a crazy tailspin (no memory of) or 20 minute call meant I was nice.

How screwed up is that?

I wouldn't wait for a football game... I would feel like I'm dragging it out. But it's your choice wholeheartedly.

I must say, too, there's always a holiday, a birthday, a game, a playoff, a celebration, an anniversary... always a "reason", as we all know, for the tell tale milestone, that is really just a trigger... THANKS

I'll tell you this, and keep in mind I'm not trying to scare you.

I detoxed like a month ago and failed like every other time. After I failed and had to detox again, (that would be the last detox) I realized that in one short week, I developed Gastritis and an allergy to a medication. Totally reversible with abstinence and not life threatening. But one week did make a difference.

With that being said, pick a date and stick with it. You'll be happy with your decision.

There's never a good time to quit. Ever.

But like the proverb says - the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is today

Hi pp
If your sobriety is dependent on a football game, I'll be honest w/ you that you won't stay sober for any length of time. After the SB, your mind will think of the next best reason to pick up again. Here, ill make it easy for you- St Patrick's ...loh
If its worth doing, then it's worth doing NOW

VERY interesting. What lots of you, or most of your have done, given up at any time. Thank you for your comment. I think it is interesting to take a "reason" and throw it on i's ass. Hmmm..... Good thought. Because clearly my reptilian brain has always seen a way around sense, and found a way to drink like a fool. Darn You! Kidding....

I am a shy person, but bull headed, I think I might take it on. It is weird. I don't need rehab (don't have the cash for it, and wouldn't do well) , I love SR, and quite frankly, I LOVE this site. Thank you ALL. XXXXX000000

I'm a nerd so I wanted to wait to quit for a month/day/year that would convert to binary. That's how stupid my excuses got... I settled for 1/11/14.

I used to do things like that too - tried to pick "significant" or "cool" dates I would always remember. Things like 11/12/13 or 1/4/14, or one of my kid's birthdays, etc. My last attempt was on 1/14/14.

When that failed I too decided I was going to wait until after the Super Bowl. I even had my food and drinks already planned out. Since my hubby is out of the country on tour and my kids will be with their father that night I was really gonna do it up. I had even considered taking that Monday after off from work knowing I'd be hella hung over. That's how absolutely out-of-control, progressive and insane my drinking had become. I'm convinced if I follow thru on that plan I may very well seriously harm myself. It scares me to even think about it.

I finally...THANKFULLY settled on today.

Had I waited for the "right time" I'd still be just talking about it.
