14 days and feeling good
I am approaching day 14 as of tonight. I have been moderate drinker for about 10 years and for the last five I have been a heavy one. 14 days ago I put a friend from high school to rest who was only 36 years old ,he was a secret drinker and passed from liver and kidney failure. In sorrow and happiness later that night I set out on a mission to destroy my liver.
The next morning I woke up after my binge feeling miserable and ashamed. Not remembering what happened again and regretting what I may have done or said. Soon I realized that I had to go to an all day work meeting that began in 45 minutes. My low was at some point during that day secretly slipping away during the middle of a lecture to vomit. I have come to the conclusion that when I drink typically become a complete sh*thead and the best way to change this is to eliminate alcohol.
I haven't attended any meetings yet. The only ones I have shared my desire to change with is my wife and God. I am happy with my progress so far but still find myself struggling at times when stressed or depressed. Thanks for taking time to listen and I look forward to many more sober days to come.
