dreams

Does anyone recall when they tried to quit drinking having dreams about drinking every night so you didn't sleep?

Yes I dream about relapsing and feel terrible, then I wake up and realised it never happened.

Me too and the relief when you wake up and realise it was just a dream
Sleep will come and the dreams will fade in time x

My AB has dreams so bad that it is messing with him mentally. He has missed work because they have him so exhausted he feels as if he never gets any sleep.

Yeah, that happens to me too.

Also when I quit smoking, I'd dream of lighting up. It could be your brain's way of showing you what will happen if you slip.

I don't know how long it's been since your bf drank. Not long, I would guess. So it's probably not the dreams affecting him, but alcohol withdrawals.

I still have them now and again and just wake up thinking. 'Thank God for that' and carry on

I also get these dreams, luckily not every day though. It can indeed be uncomfortable for a moment when waking up confused, but I actually like to think about them and analyze them later, what else was there in those dreams, what was the overall context. I've had some interesting insights into triggers that are complex and not so obvious to my wakeful awareness. So kind of trying to turn them useful

I'd use to get them I think as far as 10 months in. It seemed that without fail, when I had a craving, a dream would pop up and scare the cr** out of me. It's not surprising, though. Your brain has a lot to sort out.

Oh yes, I have those dreams all the time when I don't drink. It doesn't make me relapse, I wake up relieved it wasn't true.

Do you feel completely exhausted after having them?

Not exhausted, just a sense of relief that it was just a dream.

He doesn't seem relieved at all that it was a dream could he just be dwelling on it too much?
