8 days no alcohol and still having anxiety and brief dizzy spells.
Per the title, is this normal. I'm cold turkey 8 days now. Drank 3-4 nights a week for 19 years. An I out of the "danger zone"?

My dizziness and anxiety was gone this morning. I'm nine days sober today. I actually created a post like this last night, then woke up feeling great. Weird. But that's my body. Maybe you should talk to your doctor?

I have called the nurse and will be making an appt pending what the doctor had to say. I woke up feeling GREAT today, but after about 5 hours in, my anxiety and dizzy spell kicked in. Hopefully like you, my dizziness will be gone tomorrow. I just keep telling myself I'm not going to die and that I will feel better in a few more weeks. I know I'm done drinking because I'm never going through this again!

That's EXACTLY how I felt yesterday and the three days before that. Anxiety sucks, but it's temporary hopefully.

Everyone is different I guess. I'm on day 8. My dizziness and anxiety were gone yesterday. I don't feel "great" or anything yet, but at least those symptoms have ceased. I'm drinking a lot of water, avoiding ALL sources of caffeine, and eating healthier than normal to replenish my abused system. I hope you feel better soon. Hang in there....it shouldn't be long

^^^. My chemical make up must be different. However, I am feeling alot better than 30min ago when I replied. I drank water with a splash of lemonade for a little sugar. So maybe it's a sugar thing?

I'm 2 weeks sober today. It wook me about 1 week to get over the worst of the anxiety. My only real issue is tiredness just now, even though I managed 10 hours last night, and sleeping better. No idea how long this wll last for.
Hang in there Vincenz

Best way forward is to see a Dr Vincenz!!
My head was spinning for about 2 weeks, until my sleep, eating and routine adjusted without alcohol, though everyone is different and so best getting checked out!!

Until I get to the DR , I'm just going to drink some lemonade. During this entire detox, I have been in such a weird mental state that I haven't really craved any sweets or junk food. I notice tonight at work I was feeling dizzy and had some lemonade and the dizziness went away shortly there after. I've stopped smoking several times in the past, once for an entire year, but NOTHING I have ever experienced comes close to the feeling of alcohol detox. Well Tomorrow when I wake up will be the start of day #10. An urge for a drink is the LAST thing on my mind, the physical and mental stress is too scary to really think about anything else.
Glad you are seeing a doctor. When I had anxiety it always came with dizziness but best checked by dr.
Avoiding caffeine in any form helped along with staying hydrated and eating sugar. An orange is great.
