Day Seven
Day Seven
Day Seven- One week!
"And God was well pleased."
I am pleased too, but know that I need more of a plan. I've a plan in place and it includes AA, non-drinking friends, honesty about my sobriety and not just "not drinking", church, etc. I have done this before over 30 years. Something is lacking. Maybe I just need more time and more sober days. It's not so much of a craving today but I am irritable, crabby and nervous. I should be happy. I find myself lost and feeling empty. Dear God guide me.
It was my husbands birthday today too. What is wrong with me? I so want to get this right. For the both of us, for all of us....................
Maybe be a little kinder to yourself? My goodness the first week was so hard for me. I was irritable, cranky, depressed, happy, sad..just a bundle of emotions.
Sounds like you and your body are adjusting to sobriety. Kris, you made it through the week!!! Do something nice for yourself. Congratulations.. well done!

Congratulations on one week Kris! It took me a couple of weeks to start feeling better, both mentally and physically. Give yourself a little more time. I keep telling myself that my recovery will progress at its own rate and worrying or fretting over not being where I want to be won't speed up the process and will only serve to undermine my commitment.
It will get better Kris, I promise!

I don't know how to thank you all.
I was up all night and just got up and am feeling like I'm drunk. Tears coming again. Feeling off balance, light headed, nauseaus and just weird. Today I cut back on the Librium to 2 a day for one week. I've had no real side effects, (symptoms) from them.
I have to take my husband to the cardiologists this morning. Won't take another pill til later on.
Wishing all of you fantastic people a good day. May sunshine follow you around no matter the weather. Uh. On to two two weeks. Can't let this get me again.

Good evening Everyone,
Day 8 here. After a hectic start to the day, it has ended up pretty well. I am down to one Librium so far and had no shakes or anything at all when the time rolled around. Will take one tonight before I go to bed. Am thankful for a better day.
I guess it's just the lack of sleep that got to me yesterday. Last time sober it took me 3 1/2 months to sleep more than a few hours. I'm just glad I'm sober. Also, thankful for all of you.
Off to watch a movie with DH. Sleep well and know EACH DAY SOBER IS A DAY FULL OF BLESSINGS.
Kris
Day Nine,
Am smiling.
One bummer though, here I have cut out approximately 1200 calories a day and have gained 5 pounds. how do I keep my urge to eat at bay? Still better than drinking poison.
Anyone else with this problem?

Hi Kris47, I gained a few pounds initially, mainly because I was too tired to cook so I was eating a lot of crap. I got fed up last week and started journaling everything I eat, started walking daily and improving my diet, and I have already lost 5 pounds. Don't worry too much the first couple of weeks, your crazy food cravings will taper off and then you can focus on reintroducing healthier foods, which should motivate you to start exercising.
Thanks.
Problem is I have never changed my eating plan but used to walk, hike etc but had an accident and can no longer walk til I have a TKR. It all was probably a blessing in disguise though as I knew I wouldn't do a surgery and end up in ICU in withdrawal besides surgery! Great motivation to making me quit the alcohol. God works in mysterious ways.
Guess I'm just gonna have to cut back some more. I do like an evening snack. Gonna have to tape my mouth shut for awhile. lol
Okay Justin, I'll cut up bunches of fresh veggies.
