support system, continued ... "even in the lowest hours"
I've had many low moments as an active alcoholic. This past summer may have been the topper.
I was drinking regularly and spending time with a male friend reconnected with through facebook. It wasn't a sexual daliance, but affairs of the heart cut deep. At one point, I left the night before my husband's knee surgery and wasn't there for him the day of. My oldest daughter & mother took on the responsibility that I abandoned.
When I came home later that day my husband wanted me to listen to a song that we both were familar with, but he added, "have you ever really listened to the lyrics?". Tears fell and he played the song for me [on youtube]. He told me he had never felt worse since the time our oldest daughter was in the ICU [at MGH for traumatic brain injury in 2010 after being hit by a car in front of our house].
